Eon Media’s roots can be traced back to the late 1980s when the company first got involved with corporate video and digital media production. The name Eon was chosen being an acronym for ‘Electronic and ON-line’. In 1995 we became one of the first northern production companies to move away from traditional tape-based linear-editing with significant investment in computer-based non-linear digital editing. Digital editing capacity was doubled in 1998. In 1999 we moved into new premises with room for further expansion. The turn of the century saw the arrival of two new Avid edit suites and we upgraded our tape format choices to include Digital Betacam. Two dedicated Spruce DVD suites were also purchased. In 2003 the incumbent management team lead a buyout from our parent company and by 2007 we became the first production company in East Yorkshire to invest in High Definition (HD) camera and editing suites.
